GCEA has installed a new community solar garden on the roof of its headquarters’ shop building and is awaiting approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) before it can be energized. Hopefully, by the end of August, the system will begin production.
The array is anticipated to be approximately 101 kW, which is 5 times the size of the current solar garden in Crested Butte. GCEA will lease the 342 solar panels in this new array at an affordable rate, either on a month-to-month or annual basis.
GCEA is also working with other entities to develop additional community solar arrays and hopes to have one or more additional projects completed this year.
