Reconnecting with Members – 2022 Annual Meeting

GCEA’s annual meeting theme, “Reset, Recharge, and Reconnect” was on full display on Tuesday, June 21!

We were so happy to reconnect with members in person this year after a long hiatus due to COVID-19.  There was a lot going on for members to do and see. The linemen gave bucket truck rides and safety demonstrations, while Alantha Garrison and Tri-State representatives talked to members about beneficial electrification and rebates. Members also appreciated the member gifts and Tri-State swag that was available! Attendees enjoyed a yummy dinner provided by GCEA members, FBar Catering, and cupcakes by Lake City member Alices Pie Palace! The amazing band Shanty put on a wonderful performance while members mingled and ate the delicious dinner.

There was no contested election this year, but long-time District 3 board member Bart Laemmel decided to step down from the board of directors, after a 12-year stint. We are so thankful for everything Bart has done for the GCEA membership and he will be missed!

As GCEA bylaws permit, the Board took action at its May 25 meeting to cancel this year’s uncontested elections for district seats 2 and 3 and declared Morgan Weinberg and Darcie Perkins as elected with terms starting July 22.

This year the grand prize of $300 went a well-deserved member, Mr. Mike Young. Mike worked for GCEA as a lineman and GIS technician for 36 years.

We were so happy to reset, recharge, and reconnect with members and we can’t wait to see all your smiling faces at upcoming GCEA events!
