Gunnison County Electric Association (GCEA) crews restored power to all affected members following a power outage in the Lake City area on the morning of Friday, July 17.
The outage began at 6:52 a.m. after a small animal came into contact with a transformer, interrupting electric service to 1,705 members. GCEA crews responded immediately and restored power to all affected members by 8:20 a.m.
GCEA line crews have installed physical protective barriers on the transformer to help prevent any additional service interruptions.
"We know how disruptive unexpected outages can be, and we sincerely appreciate our members' patience and understanding this morning," said GCEA CEO Mike McBride. "Our crews responded quickly to safely restore power, and we're grateful for their dedication to keeping the lights on."
GCEA thanks its members for their patience and support while crews worked to restore service safely and as quickly as possible.
Members experiencing any lingering service issues are encouraged to contact GCEA at 970-641-3520.
