Electric Vehicle Rebate Requirements:
- Available to PowerWise Pledge™ contributors
- Limit one rebate per account in a 10-year period
- Available for new or used EV purchases (no leases) with a net purchase price under $35,000 (after applicable Colorado state tax incentives/programs and before taxes and fees) - must provide detailed bill of sale, including details about state tax incentives/program benefits
- EV must be registered in Gunnison, Hinsdale, or Saguache County - must provide proof of registration
- Must apply for the rebate within 90 days of purchase

2026 Colorado State Tax Incentives
- Base EV Credit: A flat $750 for any new EV or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) with an MSRP up to $80,000.
- Low-Cost EV Bonus: An extra $2,500 if the new vehicle has an MSRP under $35,000, creating a maximum $3,250 state tax credit.
Vehicle Exchange Colorado (VXC) Program
For lower-to-middle-income residents, the state's Vehicle Exchange Colorado (VXC) Program acts as a "cash for clunkers" initiative. If you trade in an eligible older or high-emitting gasoline vehicle, you can claim point-of-sale rebates:
- New EV or PHEV: $9,000 rebate.
- Used EV or PHEV: $6,000 rebate.
- Income Cap: Your household income must be below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) or enrolled in aid programs like SNAP, WIC, or LEAP.
- Vehicle Cap: New vehicles must have an MSRP under $80,000. Used vehicles must have a negotiated price under $50,000. You must be approved by the state before visiting the dealer.
