GCEA Announces Proposed 4.5% Overall Rate Increase, Effective January 1, 2025
On November 20, the GCEA Board of Directors approved publication of a proposed 4.5% overall rate increase for 2025, set to take effect on January 1, 2025. This increase spans all rate classes and will be distributed across the monthly service availability charge, demand charge (for large power and industrial accounts), and the energy or kWh charge.

- The rate adjustment is necessary to cover increasing operating costs and ensure continued delivery of safe and reliable electric services to GCEA members.
- GCEA is absorbing a significant portion of its increased costs to mitigate the impact on its members in 2025.
- The average monthly residential member bill will increase $6.02 based on an avg of 688 kWh per month of usage.
- The monthly Service Availability fee will increase by $2.00 for most residential and commercial accounts.

GCEA will hold a virtual and in-person member meeting on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 6 pm to review rate increase details, listen to member concerns, and answer member questions.
The last rate increase GCEA imposed was March 1, 2024, with an overall increase of 5.0%.
