Safety Awards

Rocky Ferran, chief engineer and Roger Grogg, chief operations officer, proudly received two awards from the Colorado Rural Electric Association (CREA) on behalf of GCEA.

Safety Awards

In 2008, GCEA received the annual No Lost Time Award for the fifth time in eight years. This award means that no employee sustained any injury serious enough to require any treatment or time off during the regular work day. "Our number one priority is to make sure employees finish the work day in as good a shape as they started," says Grogg.

GCEA also earned third place in a very close competition for CREA's coveted Safety Award.

This award includes an evaluation of company records including State Worker's compensation reports, Occupational Health and Safety records, company insurance claims, safety meeting records, equipment safety inspections, and company accident records. The final score is derived from calculations comparing these records with vehicle miles, miles of electric line constructed and maintained, as well as the number of meters served and the number of employees hired.

These safety awards demonstrate the commitment of the board of directors, management, and staff to the importance of safety at GCEA.
